000003 — Navigating the space between what was, is and what’s next
I used to want, or more honestly stated, need things to resolve. A clean ending, a moment where everything makes sense.
But I’m seeing it differently now. Nothing ever fully lands.
We don’t arrive. We move.
Yesterday, I walked an alley I’ve passed a hundred times. It wasn’t a destination, just space between two places. Normally, I’d pass through without thinking. This time, I slowed down. Noticing. Shadows stretching across the pavement. Murals half-finished. Locked doors, open doors. Reflections in broken glass.
And then I looked up. The moon.
My pace changed before I had language for why.
All the immediate things I focus on daily.
All the stress, the unfinished, the unknown.
And suddenly scale perspective.
We spend so much time locked into what’s next. The next decision, the next problem, the next move. But there’s always more space than we realize. Always something beyond what feels urgent.
I think I’m finally seeing the in-between for what it is.
Not an empty space, but the place where things take shape.
Where things take shape before we know what to call them.
Still sitting with that.
