000004 — Catching up to the life I imagine
I’ve always lived a little ahead of reality. I can see a future before I have enough evidence to defend it, and then I start quietly arranging my life in its direction.
Not in some detached, wishful-thinking way, but in a way that has shaped my entire life. Some may call this optimism or idealism. I’ve come to see it as building toward what I can see before it is visible.
Everything I’ve built every leap, every pivot, every reinvention has been about catching up to the future I already believe in. I’ve done it over and over again. Even when I didn’t have a clear map, I had direction. Even when I couldn’t fully articulate it, I knew where I was heading.
But I’m seeing something new now: the more specific I get, the faster I move.
For years, I’ve been moving toward futures I could see before I could fully explain them. Big ideas, strong intuition, but without the details fully filled in.
And still I’ve made it here.
Now I’m thinking about what changes when I go deeper. When I define the vision with more clarity. When I stop holding it as an idea and start asking what today would look like if I actually believed it was possible.
I’ve done this instinctively for years. Now I’m learning to do it with intention.
