000006 — Freedom in my own skin

I don’t think I’ve ever felt this light. Not because life is easy, far from it. The pressures, the decisions, the weight of expectation, it’s all still here. But I’m different.

I used to think confidence was something you built through proving, through achieving, through stacking up enough wins until one day you just felt it. But that kind of confidence was always fragile. It relied on external confirmation. And when that faltered? So did I.

But now? Now I just know.

I am no longer asking every room to tell me whether I exist.

It’s a different kind of confidence. Not manufactured. Not performative. It wasn’t gifted to me. I earned it. I did the work. I sat in the silence. I faced myself.

And now, for the first time in my life, I trust myself.

It’s not about ego. It’s not about proving anything. It’s about the peace that comes when you stop needing external validation to confirm what you already know.

And here’s the crazy part, I feel it in my body.

I walk taller. I stand straighter. I move through the world with a kind of quiet certainty that I didn’t have before. Nothing externally has changed, but I can feel myself moving through the world with less apology.

And maybe this is what freedom actually is.

Not the absence of struggle. Not unlimited choices.

But the knowing that whatever comes next, I have enough steadiness in me, and enough grace around me, to navigate it.

It’s not that I’ve escaped hardship. It’s that hardship doesn’t define me anymore.

And that feels like freedom.
